Beckley Sanitary Board, a leading Southern WV wastewater/stormwater utility, seeks to fill the following positions:
Summer Internship:
Ideal for recent high school graduates or college students, this paid summer internship offers real-world experience in environmental science, stormwater management, sampling, community outreach, and engineering support. Interns gain valuable field training while working alongside our staff to protect local waterways and support MS4 program initiatives. Minimum education requirement is graduation from high school or GED equivalent.
Utility Technician:
This position involves all aspects to support the operation, maintenance, repair and replacement of sanitary and storm systems. Job may also include vehicle, equipment and building maintenance tasks. Preferred candidates will have experience with pipeline installation, the operation of heavy equipment machinery and have a valid commercial driver’s license. Minimum education requirement is graduation from high school or GED equivalent.
Wastewater Operator in Training:
This position assists in the operation and maintenance of all equipment and systems at the Piney Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP), associated wastewater lift stations, may work in the wastewater collection system, and shall perform other tasks, as necessary, relative to vehicle, equipment, and building maintenance. Minimum education requirement is graduation from high school or GED equivalent.
Wastewater Operator:
This position operates and maintains all equipment and systems at Beckley Sanitary Board’s Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) and associated wastewater lift stations, and shall perform other tasks, as necessary, relative to vehicle, equipment, and building maintenance. This position will have, at a minimum, one (1) year of previous relevant experience and/or other valuable skills with demonstrated competency. Minimum education requirement is graduation from high school or GED equivalent.
Environmental/Utility Systems Inspector:
The Environmental/Utility Systems Inspector will assist to assure area construction projects comply with regulatory requirements and that the construction of public sanitary sewer and storm sewer facilities infrastructure is durable, reliable and meets all specifications by performing technical construction inspections as required. Preferred candidates will have 2 years of experience and an associate degree or higher in engineering, environmental science, construction management, or a closely related field. The ability to read plans and technical drawings and background in sediment and erosion control principles is desirable. Minimum education requirement is graduation from high school or GED equivalent.
